Leicester Diwali Trip 2025

Our Diwali shopping trip turned out to be more than just a day of buying lights and sweets. It became a celebration of togetherness and tradition. Most of the group consisted of our beloved elders, whose excitement lit up the day brighter than any diya we could buy.

As we walked through the bustling markets, the air filled with the fragrance of fresh snacks and savouries and the sparkle of colorful lights. The elders reminisced about how Diwali used to be celebrated years ago when sweets were homemade and decorations crafted by hand. Their stories added warmth and nostalgia.

They guided us patiently, suggesting that we visit a particular store as they wanted to  choose the best diyas, and traditional sweets and snacks, while sharing little lessons about the meaning behind each ritual. Laughter echoed , their eyes twinkling with youthful joy.

By the end of the day, our bags were full, but our hearts were even fuller with memories, love, and a renewed sense of connection to our roots. This Diwali shopping trip wasn’t just about preparing for the festival, it was about reliving cherished traditions through the wisdom and warmth of the elder generation.

” I thank ABA for taking us to this Leicester trip as we get so many varieties here at Belgrave Road.”

” Shopping is not my priority. I visited to give company to my friends so we can eat together and spend quality time together.”

” My son recently got married. So I am taking my daughter in law with me to Leicester so we can spend some fun time together and she can shop whatever she wants as it’s her first diwali.
