Ashwini is an experienced People and Culture professional with around 10 years’ experience across the charity, education and membership sectors. Her career has focused on employee relations, people policy, equality, diversity and inclusion, organisational development and supporting leaders to create inclusive and effective working environments.
Alongside her professional career, Ashwini brings governance experience and a strong commitment to ensuring organisations are accessible, inclusive and responsive to the communities they serve. Drawing on her own lived experience as a visually impaired woman of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage, Ashwini understands the importance of services that recognise the intersection between disability, culture and community.
Ashwini joined the Association of Blind Asians as a Trustee because of her commitment to disability inclusion and her belief in the importance of culturally informed, community-led support. She is particularly passionate about helping ABA strengthen its governance, develop its people and organisational practices, and build a sustainable future so that it can continue supporting visually impaired people and their families.
