ABA offers a variety of jobs. You will have the opportunity to work directly with the visually impaired people that we support, or making it all happen behind the scenes, a job with us is a great opportunity.

We consider anyone who has the motive to help us achieve our mission of providing help and support to those who need it. Whether you’re just beginning your career or if you already have experience working in the voluntary, public or private sectors, ABA can help you to use your strengths, enthusiasm and skills to their maximum potential.


Which Volunteer Roles could I take part in?


This is your chance to give back to the community. To make a difference to people who need help. You`ll be making a huge difference to the lives of people living with sight loss, get to meet new people, share and develop your skills, and become part of your local community.

We have a number of great volunteering opportunities which are released throughout the year such as:


Assistant Support Worker

You will have the opportunity to attend our support groups to assist our support workers in guiding and helping service users. To assist the support workers in group sessions; setting up and running the activities, being friendly and passionate about supporting the service users, serving food, cleaning and tidying after the session.


Office Work Admin  

You will have the opportunity to work in the main office of ABA and assist staff of any administrative tasks.


Social media/website management & graphics design

We are always looking for a helping hand in contributing new ideas into our online content. There are so many areas where you could volunteer, such as assisting us in development, graphic design, website management and social media management.


Volunteer driver

ABA runs a number of groups weekly along with some one off events. As you may know our service users are visually impaired and need assistance/transport to some of our groups and events. A volunteer driver will be extremely useful at this time and would allow more opportunities and easier access for our service users to attend various support sessions


Positions

Business Development officer – 15 hrs per week

ABA is looking for a part time Business Development Officer (BDO) who can work with the Manager to develop `Fair Ride`; a sustainable transport service delivered by volunteer drivers for disabled and older people in Leeds.  We have recently secured some initial pots of funding for this project and are now looking for a post holder who can help build upon an outline plan and develop Fair Ride into a fully functional and sustainable social enterprise.  We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, with a can-do attitude and is happy to be part of a small team.


Hours: 15 Hours per week (funded for 1 year) 

Salary: £8,210.00 per annum (pro rata for 15 hours per week), Full time Salary: £20,253.00 

Location: Leeds

Starting date: ASAP
