Hindu Temple Awareness Event

At Leeds Hindu Mandir, a community event was organised on 24th March 2018 by our organisation raising awareness on various health issues. We had well over 100 people who attended the event. Thanks to all stall holders, funders, Leeds Hindu Mandir, Namaste and Bhojan Sangam Social group for their support.

This event was treated as an open day for new potential service users. We spoke about the work we carry out at ABA and our specific services and drop is sessions. We then continued on to deliver an eye health talk. Advice was given on how to take care of your eyes, with a presentation on different eye conditions and how they can effect an individual.

A few volunteers were selected from the audience to try on ‘sim specs’ which simulate different visual impairments. Each volunteer described their experience. This gives everyone a firsthand understanding on what visual impairment feels like.

Everyone took part in a number of activities such as Mehndi, Relaxation Massages and Yoga.

Stall holders had a chance to talk about their own charitable organisation on what services they offer and how they can help individuals. We would like to thank St Gemmas Hospice, Leeds Cancer Awareness, Scope Leeds, Care & Repair, HumanWare and Hearfulness for attending.
